Plumes of black smoke were seen rising above an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet.

Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
