From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
